Furwaggle Chapter 11

Chapter 11
A flying day.

It’s the start of another wonderful day in this fictitious dreamland, called, Furwaggle, where the sun always shines in the day time and the moon always glows at night.
It’s Saturday and on Saturday everyone sleeps late. That is except Fluffy. He has just exited the chuck house after finishing his early breakfast. He always is the first in line for the morning feed so he can come back again later and chow down some more. He lives by the saying that two breakfasts are better than one, and the start of a good day is if he has three.
As usual he goes over to the barn to wake up his friend Wiggles because he is one of those late sleepers. Just as he nears the barn he looks up and sees Wiggles asleep perched on the very
top of the barn. With a gasp he softly calls out, “Wiggles, wake up.” The only response from Wiggles is “ZZzzs”. So he tries again louder, “Wiggles”. Still nothing, now Fluffy really bellows out, “WIGGLES, WAKE UP”. This brought a response from Wiggles, first he scratches behind an ear, then gently opens one eye and mumbles, “Hello Fluffy, what you doing down there?”. “More important, what are you doing up there?”, replies Fluffy. At that both of Wiggles eyes popped wide open and he let out a cry that would make a bull elephant proud, “HELP, GET ME DOWN…”. “Now just take it easy”, said Fluffy in a very calm voice. “I’ll see if I can find a ladder”. In a panic Wiggles hysterically yells back, “Get me a ladder…, get the fire department…, GET ME A PARACHUTE…!”. Not to be out done Fluffy called back, “How about a bungee cord?”. “Oh, you just wait, when I get down you’re going to get it.”, snapped Wiggles. Fluffy whimpered back, “I wasn’t the one that got you up there and by the way just how did you get up there? Did you fly?”. Wiggles snapped, “You know I can’t fly since they took away my pilots license because of my bad eyesight. Now quite fooling around and help get me down from here. I’m beginning to lose my hold on this slippery roof”. With that Fluff wondered off, and returned dragging a very long ladder. “Hurry up, I can’t hold on much longer.”, yelled Wiggles. Fluffy only grunted as he lifted the ladder into place. “Ok, the ladder is there, now the rest is up to you.”, said Fluffy. Wiggles gently reached over the edge of the roof and took a hold of the ladder, then tenderly lower one leg, then another, on and on until he was safety on the ground. Fluffy ask, “Are you ok?”. Wiggles only response was, “I’m alive…”.
There was a long silence, and then the sounds of hoofs followed by a chewing. “What’s up boys?”. With a start Fluffy turned
around and there stood Betsy. While Fluffy held the all time record for the most eating, there was little doubt that Betsy had a clear hold on second place. “Well hi Betsy, it’s Wiggles that’s been up, you see….”, but Fluffy was interrupted by Wiggles, “There is no need to go into that now, and burden Betsy with our little adventure.”. “Have you been running with scissors again?”, ask Betsy. “No”, answered back Fluffy, “It wasn’t me this time, it was…”. Wiggles interrupted again with, “Fluffy can’t you read the fine print, we aren’t going to talk about that NOW!”. “As John Wayne would say, I get the picture pilgrim.”, Fluffy said as he trudged off in a huff. Betsy hadn’t paid much attention to the exchange between Wiggles and Fluffy. She had been busy nibbling on a tuft of grass. She looked up just in time to see Fluffy stomp off. “What’s the matter with Fluffy”, asked Betsy. “Oh he will be ok, just a little Saturday morning hunger pangs”, replied Wiggles. Then he asks Betsy, “Where are you going this fine morning?”. “Well I have the same kind of pangs. I think it’s a side effect of an education, I’m been going to night school you know”, said Betsy with a proud smile on her face, between chews.”. Betsy wanted everyone to know that she was working for a higher degree in milkology. She continued with, “thought I would mosey on up to the north pasture. I hear that there is some new mown hay up there. Do you want to come along, there could be some grain too”. “No”, said Wiggles, “I got to go look after Fluffy. He did me a really big favor this morning and I need to thank him.”. “Oh”, replied Betsy, “you mean about you up on the barn roof?”. With surprise Wiggles asked, “You know about that?”. With a little smile Betsy said, “Sure, everyone knows about it. You could be heard all over Furwaggle. Say isn’t your pilots license cancel because of bad eyesight?”. Sheepishly Wiggles said, “Yes, but I don’t think it counts when I’m a sleep and my eyes are closed.” With that Betsy turned and started off toward the hay fields. Just before she was out of sight, she turned her head and with a grin yelled back to Wiggles, “Don’t forget to ware your parachute.”
Wiggles walked over to where Fluffy was and said, “I’m sorry for cutting you off back there I didn’t know that everyone already knew about my little trouble. Also I want to think you for getting me off that roof.” With a serious look Fluffy said, “Ah that’s ok. But you have to do something about that walk or is it flying in you sleep.”. With a serious look Wiggles said, “Yes, I’m going to start tying one of my legs to the barn door.”.
Then Wiggles said, “Come on, lets go see if they are still serving breakfast.”. At that Fluffy perked up his ears and with a big smile said, “Sounds good to me pilgrim.”
My tiny mind thinks that it’s not good to fly with your eyes closed or to imitate John Wayne.

Furwaggle Chapter 10

Chapter 10
It’s a water and mud day.

The fields are alive with special sounds in this fictitious dreamland, called, Furwaggle. It’s irrigation time and water flows freely across the countryside. Everyone is out playing and having fun.
Despite the fact that Fluffy doesn’t care all that much for water even he is playing with his friends, Hop, Skip and Jump. Today’s game is leapfrog and Fluffy is having a ball. This may be because there is mud on everyone else so he doesn’t look out of place.
Wiggles on the other hand, does like water but doesn’t see the need to play in such childless games. He is quite content to sit on the sidelines and just watch. From time to time he calls out to Fluffy words of encouragement and support. Things like, “You dumb mutt you’re getting all muddy, or Keep your nose up out of the mud.”
After awhile, everyone was dog-tired, in particular Fluffy. All the players made their way over to the dry path for a breath of air and a rest. “I’m glad that you have come to your senses and stopped all this messing around”, Wiggles said to Fluffy. “What?”, said Fluffy. “I said you are a dumb dog, and you have no sense”, replied Wiggles. “Speak up Wiggles, you’re mumbling”, answered back Fluffy. Wiggles with a look of anguish on his face shouted, “YOU GOT MUD IN YOUR EARS AGAIN!” At that Fluffy began shaking his head to clear his ears. Then with a snort he sputtered, “and I got it in my nose too”. Then Fluffy looked around and asked, “Hey where did everyone go? Is it lunch time?” Wiggles laughed, “What’s the matter? Do you have mud in your eyes too?” With a hurt look, Fluffy said, “No I just didn’t want to miss anything, especially lunch.” Then with a twinkle in his eye Wiggles said, “They have all gone to take a shower to wash off the mud.” “You mean a shower….with water?”, whimpered Fluffy. “Yes”, snapped Wiggles, “You know that wet stuff that flows all over and makes you clean. It’s a new rule by the Imperial grand wizard of the beautification counsel, you can’t have breakfast, lunch or dinner unless you’re clean. That means ears, face, and paws,.” Fluffy wailed, “even my ears too?”. With that Wiggles said, “Come on, go shower before all the hot water is gone.”.
As the two friends start off for the bunkhouse Wiggles smiled to himself, “Fluffy won’t find out that there is no such thing as a clean rule for at least a day or two.”

My tiny mind thinks that a clean ear is a good thing before eating.

Chapter 9
Lost and Found.

Today is like any other wonderful day in this fictitious dreamland, called, Furwaggle. The smoke is slowly curling out of the chimney of the chuck house after the final serving of breakfast. As usual Fluffy is the last one to exit the door, first you see his full belly and then with a burp the rest of him stumbles into view.
Fluffy looks around and then calls out, “Wiggles, where are you?” Normally Wiggles would be perched some where near by
waiting for his friend Fluffy to finish stuffing himself. But, today, Wiggles was nowhere in sight. This is odd, thought Fluffy, so he called out again, “Wiggles, where are you?” Still no answer, “well, thought Fluffy, maybe he over slept and missed breakfast.” This is something that Fluffy would never do, but then Wiggles is a quack of a different animal. So Fluffy started over to the barn to check if Wiggles was there. Along the way, Fluffy met Charley Hooter, and asked, “Have you seen Wiggles this morning?” Charley in a grumpy voice answered, “Are you trying to be a smart-mouth or something, I haven’t seen anything in the daylight for twenty years. So what makes you think I could see Wiggles now?” Fluffy started backing up as fast as his full belly would let him. After a few steps, he said, “Sorry Charley, I just wasn’t thinking.” And with that Fluffy hurried on. When he arrived at the barn no one was there but a few of the airmail carriers flapping around the rafters and they were no help in finding Wiggles. All he could get out of them was, “do you want it to be first class or registered mail?” Fluffy wasn’t the smartest pick of the litter but he figured that sending Wiggles a letter wouldn’t be of much help.
As Fluffy was leavening the barn he hears a high pitch voice, “Whoa there, high stepper, what’s the hurry?” With a jerk, Fluffy stops dead in his tracks and looks around trying to find the source of this squeaky sound. He knew that it wasn’t Wiggles and it sure wasn’t someone asking for his autograph.
He didn’t see anyone, so he was just about to continue on his search when again, he hears the shrill voice say, “Hey big foot, I’m down here, just in front of your big toe.” Fluffy looks down to see this tiny little speck looking up at him. “Oh”, said Fluffy, “I didn’t see you little speck. Did I step on you? I seem to do that a lot.” Again the sharp piercing voice said, “No way, you missed me by a mile. What are you in such a all fired hurry for.” Fluffy replied, “Well little spot, I’m looking for my friend Wiggles, have you seen him? He is a large white…..” Before Fluffy could finish the shrill voice interrupted him with, “Hold on there buster, my name isn’t little spot, or little speck or even little dot. My name is Tricky Mite. And no, I haven’t seen your friend, but if you show me a little respect, I will help you look for him.” “Oh, would you?” Fluffy replied, “but how could you help you can’t even see over that next mole hill.” Tricky then said, “If you help me up on your shoulder I can see much better from there, four eyes are better than two.” Somewhat skeptical, Fluffy said, “So you want to ride on my back? But will you bite me?” With a twinkle in his eye, Tricky answered, “Why no big fellow, I’m a vegetarian.” Fluffy thought, there seems to be a lot of that going around lately. So, he said to Tricky, “Ok, but you have to hold on because I’m a fast mover and I have to find my friend Wiggles.”
With Tricky well seated on his back, Fluffy took off at a gallop. ”Yahoo buckaroo yelled”, Tricky. While Fluffy, maybe a fast runner, his sense of direction, was, in question. Neither he nor Tricky noticed that they were running in a large circle. That was until they were back at the chuck house. Fluffy seemed to have a sixth sense about, where there was or would soon be food. Realizing where he was, Fluffy came to an abrupt stop, plus the fact he needed to scratch. At about that time the door of the chuck house opened and out stepped Wiggles. Seeing Fluffy, he said, “Where have you been Fluffy and why are you scratching?” With a questioning voice Fluffy shouted, “Where have I been, I’ve been out looking all over for you! What have you been doing?” Somewhat puzzled Wiggles said, “Well the cold water dish washer had relatives visiting, so I just filled in for a little while so he could be with them and why are you still scratching?” By this time, Fluffy was rubbing his back against the hitching post in front of the chuck house. Wiggles could hear a tiny little voice crying out, “Hey, cut it out, you’re hurting me.”
“Just what is that I hear?” asked Wiggles. Fluffy had given up with scratching and was now rolling in the dirt. “Snort, that does it, this isn’t fun any more.” Said a wheezing little voice, as Tricky jumped off of Fluffy and scurried away. Wiggles asked again, “What was that little spot that just jumped off of your back?” Fluffy had settled down enough to answer Wiggles. “That wasn’t little spot, it was Tricky Mite and he was helping me find you.” With a grin Wiggles said, “So you got tricked again and ended up getting bit.” Fluffy was quick to reply, “Well, he said he wouldn’t bite me and besides he’s a vegetarian, what ever that is.”
Just then the lunch bell rang and Fluffy made a dash for the chuck house as he yelled over his shoulder to Wiggles, “Now don’t you get lost again, I’ll be out in about an hour or two.” With that Wiggles wattled over to his favorite perch to settle down and wait for his gullible gobbling friend.
My tiny mind thinks that you shouldn’t give a ride to a stranger that bites.

Furwaggle Chapter 8

Chapter 8
Opposites can attract.

It’s a fine day as always in the fictitious dreamland, called, Furwaggle. The sun was shining as always, the birds were; well you know, what birds always do. Everyone still had fond memories of the musical concert from last week.
Wiggles and Fluffy were on their daily walk and talking about how much fun they had at the concert. Fluffy was re-telling about being asked for his autograph. With each time he told the story, it got more and more detailed and inflated. He was just finishing up with, “…and then she just walked right up to me and asked for my autograph.” Wiggles then said with a little grin, “Fluffy, you're becoming so popular, why don’t you get some cards made, so you can just hand them out if you ever get asked again.” Fluffy stopped for a moment and then with a thoughtful look on his face he said, “You know Wiggles, that may be a good idea. They could come in handy if I was ever to go on tour or something.” Wiggles didn’t say anything but just gave a little snicker, it was so much fun to bait Fluffy.
At about that time, Fluffy saw Betty Feline slinking up the path
toward them. Fluffy gushed out, “Oh my god, here comes that nasty Betty again.” It was just yesterday, while on their walk, they had encountered her and it wasn’t all that much fun for Fluffy. He still had a small scratch on his nose when Betty had been offended at something Fluffy must have said. Wiggles had just marked it up to something in the DNA, that made Fluffy feel the way he did about Betty Feline, or maybe it was just the way she arced her back, whenever she was near Fluffy. She seemed to carry a chip on her shoulder, where Fluffy was concerned. In a soft whisper, Wiggles said to Fluffy, “now be nice.” And then in a normal tone, he said to Betty, “Good morning Miss Feline, how are you this fine day?” With that, Betty slinked up next to Wiggles and with a purr, she replied, “Why, I’m just fine Mr. Wiggles.” Then, to Fluffy, she hissed, “and how about you Mr. Fluffy? Is your nose healing ok?” With that, Fluffy dropped down and put both front paws over his nose. Wiggles figured that Fluffy had taken a defensive position; while not very elegant, it did protect an exposed vulnerable part that had taken some abuse at their last encounter. With a somewhat muffled voice Fluffy replied, “You didn’t lay a glove on me lady.” Again in a soft purring voice Betty said to Fluffy, “Well I just wanted to apologize for my behavior yesterday, I was just having a bad hair day, but I’m much better now. In fact, I brought you this little peace offering. Just don’t say anything about felines being lazy fur balls.” Fluffy looked up over his paws, and there was Betty holding out a cookie for him. With that Fluffy jumped up and said, “Why thank you Miss Betty, that’s very nice of you.” Wiggles thought that there was a really smart girl; she was attacking Fluffy at his weakest point. Wiggles said to both, “Why don’t we continue on our walk and get to know one another.”
With that the three of them started down the path. In a perky voice Fluffy said, “Did you know that I got asked for my autograph at the musical concert last week? Well, let me tell you about it……” Oh no, thought Wiggles, here we go again. At least, there was peace again in this fictitious dreamland of Furwaggle. My tiny mind thinks that a peace offering of a simple cookie can go a long way.

Furwaggle Chapter 7

Chapter 7
The sounds of music.

Its late evening and the sun was just going down in the fictitious dreamland called Furwaggle. There was excitement in the air and a song in the hearts of all. Tonight was the night of the big musical concert in the barn. The rafters were strung with colored lights and the stage at one end of the barn was all decorated with streamers and paper lanterns.
A crowd was beginning to gather as the band was tuning up. There was Chirpy on the drums, the Bovine sisters on the clarinets, Charley Hooter on the trombone, and there was even Fluffy on the hollowing base. But the real attraction tonight was to be Twister the Whistler. It is said that he could whistle notes that only Fluffy could hear.
A hush fell over the crowd as Wiggles, the Master of Ceremony, came to the microphone and addressed the audience, “Tonight we have a real treat for you, by special request, straight from his command performance at the Airport Bar and Grill in Real World Quebec City Canada, here is Twister the Whistler, accompanied by our own local Tweeter Band.” With that the crowd went wild.

Twister went into a medley of music that had everyone clapping in time to each note and even a few were dancing and hopping. Even old Charlie Gator was doing a jig. Twister then hushed the audience with some old time sentimental tunes that captured everyone’s romantic side. Miss Bunny’s mother, Mrs. Hopper’s eyes crossed and she even swooned a little; she didn’t notice Porky slipping up along side of Miss Bunny.
At intermission there were cookies and punch serviced at the far end of the barn that attracted a lot of attention. But most of the young girls and some not so young rushed the stage to get an autograph from Twister, even Fluffy got asked for an autograph by Miss Collie. This so enthralled Fluffy that for the rest of the night he sported a big grin and his tail wave to and fro like a leaf in the wind.
The rest of the concert were duets of the locals and the Twister. The last one was Wiggles on the fiddle playing a foot stomping blue grass with Twister hitting some high notes that made Fluffy’s ears stand up and utter a string of uncontrolled whimpers. The concert ended with a solo by the Twister of “Good Night Ladies”, which brought the barn down with applause and hoots plus some moos from the herd.
Early the next morning a large crowd gathered at the train depot to see Twister the Whistler off on the rest of his whistling tour. For the rest of the day there was whistling all over Furwaggle, everyone was in a good mood and wanted the feeling to last as long as possible. There were some interesting side effects, one was Fluffy, he kept on scratching his ears, claming he could still hear a high pitch whistle in his good right ear. Wiggles also seemed to be effected; he had picked up a little skip to his walk and a big smile on his face. All in all it turned out to be a good thing for Furwaggle and everyone in this fictitious dreamland.
My tiny mind thinks that having a whistling toot is better than no toot at all.

Chapter 6
Puppy love.

It’s springtime in this wonderful fictitious dreamland called Furwaggle and there is love in the air. Grasshoppers are cooing, cows are humming, and all the rest of the younger population is gearing up for courtship. And to make it even better the diet proclamation has been rescinded.
No one was more smitten than Porky. Today like most days of
his young life he was rooting his way around the barnyard. Every now and then letting out a small oink of contentment with his lot in life. His only misgiving was that he wasn’t taller and that Miss Bunny didn’t pay enough attention to him. Just as he was about to do another nosedive into the mud, he spotted his hearts desire. She hopped up to the edge of his play area and said, “Hello Porky, what have you been doing?” For a moment Porky was speechless then he blurted out, “This morning I was over in the meadow watching the races, and now I’m just a playing.” “Oh”, cooed Miss Bunny, “watching those hoofs run around in a circle is so thrilling.” And before he thought Porky blurted out again, “you know I could be a racer if I wanted to.” With a scoff Miss Bunny said, “Porky you’re too short to be a racer and besides all you do is root around here in the barnyard.” With that Porky sat down on his haunches and thought, “There it is, the leg thing again”, then to Miss Bunny he said in a weak little voice, “well I could be one of those jockeys and you don’t need long legs for that.”
Just then up walked Fluffy and Wiggles, and Fluffy asked, “who is a jockey and why?” With a little giggle Miss Bunny said, “Why Porky wants to be one and ride in the races down in the meadow.” “Well I guess if that’s what he wants to do then…” before Wiggles could finish Fluffy interrupted with, “Don’t be silly your legs aren’t long enough to reach from the saddle to the stirrups.” “There they go”, thought Porky, the leg thing again”. Then with a sniffle he said in a squeaky little voice, “Well they can grow, if they want to.” With a twitch of her nose Miss Bunny jumped in with, “You leave Porky along, he has a right to dream, and he just might be a jockey one of these days.”
Wiggles knew that when a female twitches her nose it’s no place to be. So he said to Fluffy, “Come on, it’s time for us to go, and I mean now.” With that he turned and started to walk away. Fluffy was taken by surprise and stood there for a moment looking at Miss Bunny, then ran after Wiggles. When he got to Wiggles side he said, “I think those two are smitten with each other.” In a low voice so that only Fluffy could hear Wiggles said, “There is too much difference between them.” With an uncertain look Fluffy said, “Why, they are both vegetarians.” Then with a pause he continued, “Oh, you mean it as a church thing, well, maybe one could convert.” Wiggles just rolled his eyes and continued to walk on.
Meanwhile Porky was trying to get Miss Bunny to join him in the sloppy play yard. While twisting her ears into a ponytail Miss Bunny said, “My mother says that nice girls don’t get all muddy.” Porky stammered back, “Are you teasing me?” With a shake of her head Miss Bunny said, “No Porky, my mother says that nice girls don’t tease.” Dejected Porky asked, “Then just what do you want to do?” With a hop, skip and a jump Miss Bunny started off toward the barn but said back to Porky, “I going to see what else my mother has to say.” Before he could blink Miss Bunny was gone. So with a snort, Porky went back to his playing in the mud. He had learned one thing, and that was girls are hard to understand.
My tiny mind thinks that long legs aren’t everything. But they sure make some girls look mighty good !!

Furwaggle Chapter 5

Chapter 5
Watch your step.

It’s the start of something new in this wonderful fictitious dreamland called Furwaggle. For the first time there is unhappiness in the air by the general population. A posting on the barn door that said a new program would start at once got everyone grumbling. From now on one and all will be put on a diet and the imperial grand wizard of the beautification counsel of Furwaggle had signed it. There will be only two helpings a meal and just one dessert. There also would be only three meals a day. The imperial order also suggested mild exercise if there was time available. There was much vocal complaining by all, but the loudest was Fluffy. His howling could be heard echoing off of the mountains and his tears could have watered all the fields of Furwaggle. Even Wiggles was irritated by the thought of being deprived of his late night snack of grain. But instead of being grouchy Wiggles decided to take the high road and not display his usual surly manner. Also he thought he would try to cheer up Fluffy, anything to stop that racket and weeping, it hurt his sensitive ears. He walked over and put his wing on Fluffy’s shoulder and said, “Now, now Fluffy, there will still be plenty to eat three times a day and…” But before he could say more Fluffy interrupted with, “yes but what will I do between dinner in the evening and breakfast the next morning. I will starve and waste away. I’ll just be pelt and bones, nothing but a furry shadow of my former self”. Now that’s an idea thought Wiggles But no, Fluffy was his friend and besides who else could he get to guide him on walks around Furwaggle. Then all of a sudden Wiggles got an idea, he would use food to get Fluffy’s mind off of food. On most anyone else this would not apply but on Fluffy this was just the kind of logic that was sure to work. “Fluffy old buddy”, started in Wiggles, “how about us going over to the potato patch and see if there are any ripe ones.” And just as Wiggles had hoped Fluffy perked up and with a sniff said, “Do you think there could even be some that are cooked?” “That boy sure thinks ahead, muddled but still on the same track”, thought Wiggles. The two started off in the general direction of the Furwaggle’s potato patch, with Fluffy running ahead a few yards then turning and running back to Wiggles. He would do this over and over as they made their way along the path thru the fields and orchards. They came to a place where the path descended down a gentle slope and stopped at the edge of a small stream, posing a problem for both Fluffy and Wiggles. Wiggles didn’t care much for water, except to drink and the occasional bath, and today not being Saturday he wasn’t going near the flowing water. Now, Fluffy on the other hand loved water. Like Wiggles he would drink it and look at it but no way was he going into it. Unlike Wiggles he couldn’t swim plus he didn’t like getting any water on him, bath, rain, or other wise. Today he was having a ball, he would run up to the edge of the stream, bark a few times and then back away, all the time waggling his tail and wiggling all over. After the third such tour Wiggles nervously asked, “What is going on Fluffy? Is there another one eared green widget? I tell you right now that I’m not going to rub noses with it if there is.” Between barks Fluffy answered back, “No there isn’t any green things, I’m a looking for swimmers.” Fluffy thought that swimmers were the most graceful things in the world. So elegant, so smooth in their movements, he always thought that if he could only hold his breath long enough he could be just as pleasing to the eye as those swimmers. Fluffy then begin running up and down the stream bank, and Wiggles just sat down to rest. He had enough of that mild exercise for a while, besides that his feet hurt. Abruptly Fluffy came to a halt; there in the distant he had spotted something. With a little whimper he started off to check out what it was. After a few minutes he again came to a halt. Yep, there was a row of rocks going all the way across the stream. “I can get across this water hazard by leaping from rock to rock and never even risk getting a hair wet”, thought Fluffy. With a wag of his tail he took a leap of faith and landed on the first rock. It was a little slippery but all is well that lands well and Fluffy then took his second jump. “This is a piece of cake”, thought Fluffy, and he continued on across the stream. Then as he safely landed on the last rock there came a booming voice, “Hey watch where you’re stepping”. With a yelp, a shocked Fluffy made an unscheduled flight and landed splat on the mudded bank of the stream. After pulling his head out of the mud and spitting out more of the same, he cried out, “Who was that”? “I am Sylvester Snapper, and you just stepped on me”, came the reply. With a shake of his head to get some mud out of his ear, Fluffy said with a shakily voice, “Ok Sylvester, where are you?” “If you would look where you’re going you would see that I’m down here big foot”, boomed back Sylvester. Fluffy now realized that it wasn’t a rock talking to him and with a shake to remove some more mud he said in an apologetic voice. “I’m sorry, I thought you were a rock”. With a snap Sylvester shot back, “Well I’m not a rock, and its no wonder you didn’t see me with all that mud in you’re eyes, you could have squashed me”. Fluffy climbed up the bank a little to get out of the sticky goop he had landed in and said, “I said that I’m sorry, and by the way just what are you doing down there?” Sylvester was getting tired of all this jabber and wanted to get back to his bottom fishing, so he snapped an abrupt reply to Fluffy,” With this new diet program I’m hungry and I’m trying to get me a snack. Now go away you’re scaring all the goodies away”. With that Sylvester took a deep breath and stuck his head under the water. Fluffy could tell when he wasn’t wanted, he had a second sense in this matters, and so he climbed on up the top of the bank. Suddenly, Sylvester’s head popped up and yelled to Fluffy, “You know that you got mud behind your ear”. And with that he slipped back under the water. “Humph”, thought Fluffy as he went back along the bank looking for Wiggles. After a few minutes Fluffy spotted Wiggles sitting on the other bank and called out to him, “Wiggles, oh Wiggles, its me Fluffy”. Wiggles looked around and even with his glasses he could only make out a faint shadowy outline of Fluffy on the other bank. He called back, “Fluffy is that you? How do I get on the other side?” With a smart-alecky replay Fluffy yelled back, “You are on the other side”. Wiggles tried to ignore Fluffy’s sassy remark and said, “Fluffy quit fooling around, what have you been up to”. Fluffy took a deep breath and rattled off, “I jumped on some rocks, stepped on Sylvester’s back, got mud in my eye and found you”. This worried Wiggles, what really concerned him was that he understood all of Fluffy long-winded rambling. Just then, off in the distance came the ringing of the supper bell. This set Fluffy off and he began to shout, “It’s dinner time, it’s dinner time, and I’m stuck on this side of the water. Oh what to do, what to do.” Even at this distance Fluffy’s howling made Wiggles ears ring. To be sure and get Fluffy’s attention Wiggles yelled, “Why don’t you just cross the bridge and we can go eat?” “Bridge, bridge” whimpered Fluffy as he spun around looking all over. And sure enough just a few feet away was a bridge across the stream. With a yelp Fluffy took off on a dead run over the bridge and was at Wiggles side in a flash. “Ok can we go eat now?”, asked Fluffy. With that the two friends started back to the barnyard for their dinner.
My tiny mind likes the motto, “Don’t tread on me”.

Furwaggle Chapter 4

Chapter 4
From the mouth of babes.

There are many places to live that are peaceful and pleasant, with few worries and conflicts. Among them is the beautiful fictitious land called Furwaggle. But even in this loveable land from time to time not everything is peaches and cream. There was the time when Sam Smell didn’t have very many close friends. It could have been due to his black and white paint job but mostly it was due to his strong odor. Also there were problems with Goldie Swimmer. He had a very poor memory and could not remember if he was to be in the water or above it. Maybe this is how flying fish got started?
But now all is well in dreamland and we find our two long time friends Fluffy and Wiggles out by the split rail fence. This fence wasn’t there to keep anything in or to keep anything out, it was just there. Wiggles was majestically perched on a top rail soaking in the evening sun and Fluffy was busily digging in the ground below. Wiggles asked Fluffy “what are you doing down there?”. Fluffy stopped his digging, cocked his head to one side to get some dirt out of his ear and replied, “I’m digging me a hole.”. “Yes, I know that”, snapped Wiggles, “but why all this hard-working mess?”. After a sneeze or two to get some more dirt out of his nose Fluffy said, “I trying to find a bone that I buried out here some where last week.”. “Well be sure to fill them in after you’re finished. I don’t want to be falling into any potholes and break something important.”, warned Wiggles. “I can’t fill them in cause then I won’t know where I already dug”, answered back Fluffy.
Wiggles may have very bad eyesight but his hearing was far above average. On the eye scale his hearing was 20, 20 and then some. He could hear the breeze in the trees, the babble in the brook and the marching of little feet. “Is that you Annie and your little family?, asked Wiggles. From far down on the ground came a squeaky little reply, “Sure is”. “and what is you a doing
high up that there post?”. Wiggles always liked the way Annie expressed her self and that southern way of saying just what she felt. “Well Annie I’m letting the sun warm up my feathers and getting a tan on my old body. What is it you are up to?” asked Wiggles. “We is a been forging for some goodies out by that there picnic area, and we got ourselves a pretty good load too.” replied Annie. “Are you going to eat all that stuff you’re carrying?” asked Wiggles. Annie’s squeaky little voice dropped to a mere whisper when she said, “no we is a going to store it up for the coming winter”. Wiggles fluffed up his feathers and turned a little to let the sun work on another area, then he whispered back to Annie, “but Annie there is always plenty of food at the chuck house and the winters are the same as spring, summer and fall here in Furwaggle. There is no need to store up food.” Annie shot back, “you can never be sure, with the way taxes are and with global warming we could be in a pickle of a mess and….”. Wiggles couldn’t take it any more, he interrupted with, “Come on Annie, not here in the land of plenty”. With that Annie turned and with her little brood started back on the trail to the hill but as a finial word said, “just remember I told you so.”.
All of a sudden Fluffy let out a bark, “I found it, I found it…. It’s big and round, bright and shinny…. and I found it”. With a chuckle Wiggles said, “sounds like a headlight from a 1948 Buick to me.”. He then jumps down from his perch and called to Fluffy, “come on it’s getting late, lets go home.”. As the sun slowly sinks behind the mountains our two friends began to walk back to the barn. Wiggles with his waddle and Fluffy with a dejected look, but he just has to add, “You know Annie might just be right, you can never have enough food.”.
My tiny mind also thinks that Annie just might be right.

Furwaggle Chapter 3

Chapter 3
A ruckus among us.

This morning as always a warm gentle breeze caress the fictitious land called Furwaggle. The sun was sparkling bright but was not so dazzling that our two friends Fluffy and Wiggles needed sunglasses. Both were just about recovered from their previous days unexpected mishaps. Fluffy still would sneeze from time to time and Wiggles tail feathers were marked due to the encounter with something green.
There was something new, Fluffy wasn't complaining about food. By his good fortune he had sat next to Billy at breakfast. Billy’s favorite meal was canned food. He didn't care if it was canned meat, canned fruit, canned what ever. As long as it was in a tin can. Like most from the hill country he didn't care much for what was inside because he only ate the cans. That means that Fluffy got all the leftovers from the inside of the cans, so for once he got his fill for a little while. The bad news was that Billy only came down off of the mountain about once every six months for a coat trim, so it would be awhile before Fluffy could stuff himself again.
So this morning’s after meal walk was a peaceful one, Wiggles was guided by Fluffy’s occasional sneeze and burp while he quietly rubbed his contented bloated belly. Just as they reached the tree line there came a high pitch screech followed by a loud yell. “What in tarnation was that” cracked Wiggles. Fluffy didn't answer; he was too busy covering his ears with his front paws while trying to bury his head into the sand. He did utter a few muffled sounds but they were mostly just whines. Again there was a high pitch screech but this time a yellow ball came rolling right up in front of Wiggles and stopped. Then it let out a loud yell, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling”. Fluffy’s whines got even louder in spite of a mouth full of sand and Wiggles glasses frosted over and his eyes crossed. Then just as the siren like screech was starting up again, Wiggles began to stomp his feet just as fast as his hefty frame would allow. This stopped the screech but the little yellow ball yelled, “Watch it there big fellow, you just about stepped on me.” Wiggles yelled back, “I would if I could see you, just what is the reason for all this racket?”. The yellow ball puffed it self up and answered, “The sky is falling, and I must tell everyone.”. Wiggles hissed back, “and just why do you think that the sky is falling little red hen?”. “I am not a little red hen, my name is C. Chicken, and the
sky is falling because a piece of it hit me on the head”, responded the yellow ball. “all right little C. where were you when this so called sky fell on you?” inquired Wiggles. “My name isn't little C., my family calls me Charley and my friends call me Chuck, but you should call me C. Little. And if you must know I was sitting under that big Oak tree when I was struck by a piece of sky.”, cameback C. Little. By this time Fluffy had pulled his head out of the sand and had started to run in a tight little circle chasing his tail, while yapping “don't let the sky fall on me, don't let it get me.”. That was about all Wiggles could take. He bellowed out, “Stop it Fluffy, nothing is going to fall on you, and you C. Little you got a good pair of lungs for someone so small and you've got a tiny brain to go along with it. The sky’s not falling you just got hit in the head with an falling acorn is all, so stop all this commotion and concentrate on growing up.” Fluffy then chimed in with, “and that screeching makes my teeth hurt too”. With that C. Little started to quietly walk away, a little dejected but just as he topped a little hill he shouted back “any one with sensitive teeth, big ears and such big feet as you two shouldn't pick on someone as little as me….”. All Wiggles could do was snigger but Fluffy said, “and they Walk among us.”
“All in all it wasn't such a bad day, I think it’s about time we called a halt to all this fun and games before something weird happens”. Wiggles chuckled. Not to be out done Fluffy added, “but I still have sand in my teeth,”. As the two of them started back toward home, Fluffy, began his complaining again and wondered out loud if just maybe Billy would come back for a second helping.
My tiny mind thinks that if you're going to make a commotion be sure that you know what it is you are shouting about.

Furwaggle Chapter 2

Chapter 2
Impatient Lesson.

In the fictitious land called Furwaggle the sun always comes up shining even when it rains. This morning was no exception.
The sun shone magnificently over the mountains at the east end
of the valley. We find our two friends Fluffy and Wiggles greeting a new day.
“I don’t think we should take our morning walk today. My leg is still a little stiff”, said Wiggles to Fluffy. The memory of yesterdays adventure was still fresh in his mind and a kink was still in his leg. “I agree”, replied Fluffy. “I’m not going any where until I finish eating. Haven’t got a good breakfast since the cook started using that new cookbook”, Fluffy complained. “COOKING FOR HIKING, now what kind of a book is that. It just isn’t civilized.” Wiggles just shook his head. He could always count on two things in the morning. A beautiful sunrise and a complaint by Fluffy. “Food, food, is that all you can think about ?” asked Wiggles as he limped over to where his friend was eating. “You could try to make something yourself. Then it would be cooked just the way you like it”. “You know that I am sensitive and singe easy, besides I’m a eater not a cooker”, snorted Fluffy. With that he went back to eating his breakfast. Between mouth fulls he asked, “where you been”, gulp, “aren’t you going to eat ?”, gulp. “I have had my two coffee beans already, and that’s my limit for the morning”, said Wiggles. Then with a smile he added, “You know you're supposed to chew every now and then.” The implication went right over Fluffy’s head. He was insensitive to sarcasm.
Wiggles then said something that got Fluffy’s full attention. “I went over and checked the mail”. Fluffy jerked his head up with a snap and sputtered. “is the mail in, huh, huh ?”. “Yes, fluffy, the mail is here. The mail pigeon made an early run this morning”, replied Wiggles. “The mail’s in, the mail’s in” yelped Fluffy, as he started to run around in a small circle like he was trying to catch his tail. “Did I get any, did I, huh, huh ?”. Wiggles was amused at Fluffy’s excitement and curiosity about if he had received mail. “I got to go see, got to go see.” Yelled Fluffy, as he took off at a full run in the direction of the mailboxes. In all the excitement he had forgotten all about food. Fluffy was rather spoiled, young, and defiantly impatient. He was also Wiggles best friend.
The mailboxes were over a little rise and at the bottom of the hill near the road. Fluffy was at a full gallop as he started down the slope straight for the mailboxes. As he neared his goal he tried to stop. Now, there was still a little dew on the grassy slope and it was very slippery. This Fluffy found out too late. The more he tried to stop the more he slid. With a bang and a yelp, Fluffy went right into the mailbox, head first. Wiggles had started off following Fluffy at a slow pace. His leg still was sore and his eyesight was still bad, so he just limped along after him. By the time he reached the crest of the little hill he could hear Fluffy but still couldn’t see him. What he did was hear a muffled whine. That was enough to tell Wiggles that Fluffy was in trouble again. That boy had an insatiable appetite for food and trouble, thought Wiggles.
When Wiggles finally got to where the sounds were coming, he was dumbfounded. Then his expression turned into awe as he figured out the predicament that Fluffy had gotten himself into. There was Fluffy, stuck head first up to his shoulders into the mouth of a mailbox. His feet were kicking in the air and muffled cry’s were coming from inside the box. “Woo is me, I’m stuck and I can’t get out”. Wiggles hobbled around very slowly and methodically viewing the latest predicament of his friend. “Would you like to have me help you ?”, Wiggles asked, his voice low and soothing. He was trying to calm his friend and at the same time not breakout laughing. “Oh yes, please, please, help me.”, sobbed Fluffy. “If you don’t get me out I will be stuck in here forever”, whimpered Fluffy. “Don’t be silly”, snapped Wiggles. “You just got a little something stuck on your head, that’s all”. “But it’s dark and scary in here.”, whined Fluffy. Fluffy’s legs squirmed snakelike in the air like he was trying to walk. Wiggles realized if he didn’t do something soon he would do some serious damage to the mailbox and probably to himself too. But just how was he going to help him out of this dilemma. It was hard to believe that Fluffy could get stuck so tight in that box but then again he did have a way of doing the most unusual things. “Listen to me, stop all that trashing about. You’re not helping any with your legs failings wildly in the air like that. I got to think and you're distracting me.”, barked Wiggles. His mind raced over all the different things he could do to try and free his friend. That’s when he spotted a big stick laying on the ground at his feet. It was a good thing it was so close, other wise Wiggles wouldn’t have seen it. He lifted the stick up and clenched his fist around it. Then he took a practice swing in the air. “Yep, that ought to do it”, said Wiggles with a smile. He then gleefully whacked the side of the mailbox. There was a big boom, just like he had hit a drum.
“Aaaayyiieeee!, Fluffy screamed as the sound ripped through his head. “That hurt…”. “Easy, boy”, Wiggles soothed. “Relax, it was just a bad idea.” Apologized Wiggles. Fluffy trusted him and heeded his advice. Even if he couldn’t hear him. His head was hurting and his ears didn’t feel too good either. He took a deep breath, exhaling it noisily and then be began whimpering again, that was followed by a little sneeze. “What’s the matter now ?”, asked Wiggles. “What did you say, AHCHOO…?”, sneezed Fluffy again. “Can’t hear you my ears are still ringing.”, Fluffy sputtered. “I SAID WHAT’S WRONG NOW ?” YELLED Wiggles. “AHCHOO…, it’s dusty in here and… AHCHOO…, its making me sneeze…”, sniffed Fluffy. “Well, don’t go and get panic on me”, cautioned Wiggles. “What ?”, coughed Fluffy. “NEVER MIND”, yelled Wiggles. He was just about to give the mailbox another whack with the stick, but then another idea popped into his head. Remembering about Fluffy’s allergies, Wiggles started to walk around looking down at the ground. “You still there Wiggles ?”, Fluffy called out. “Yes, I’m here”, Wiggles called back as he continued on his search. “What ?”, called Fluffy. “NEVER MIND, YOU JUST STAY RIGHT THERE, I’LL BE BACK IN A MINUTE !”, Wiggles called back. “Sure, like I was going somewhere”, snapped Fluffy. Then he added another sneeze. After a few more minutes Wiggles found what he was looking for. A big patch of ragweed. “This will do just find”, mused Wiggles as he bent over and grabed up two big hands full. When he straighten up and looked around he couldn’t see Fluffy, the mailbox or anything. With his bad eyesight he couldn’t see much of anything if he wasn’t almost standing on top of it. Then he yelled out, “FLUFFY, WHERE ARE YOU ?”. He could then hear the muted responds of his friend. “I’m right where you left me, and I’m still stuck in this mailbox”, replied Fluffy. With Fluffy’s grumbling as a guide Wiggles found his way back to Fluffy and the mailbox. “Get a good whiff of this”, said Wiggles as he poked the ragweed around Fluffy. “Ohhh, nooo !”, Fluffy wailed as his lips began to drool and his eyes rolled with tears. “What is that I smell ? AHCHOO ?…”. “You didn’t… AHCHOO…, AHCHOO…”, the rest of what Fluffy was trying to say was lost in a hail of coughs and sneezes. By then, Wiggles had stuffed all the open space between Fluffy and the sides of the mailbox full of ragweed. Yelping frantically, between all that coughing and sneezing, “I’m going to die !”, howled Fluffy. “When is you gonna, AHCHOO…, stop fooling around and, AHCHOO…, get me out of here ?” he moaned. Faster and faster his sneezes came, like a steam engine racing to the exploding point. His coughing and sneezing became more furious. His body quaking uncontrollable, he was now in a uproarious sneezing fit. Wiggles was waiting for that one magnificent all-powerful sneeze. “There she blows”, yelled Wiggles. He grabbed the outstretched legs of his trapped friend and gave a frantic tug just as Fluffy erupted in a fiery blasting sneeze. “AGHHHH !, OHHHH !, AGGGHHHHOO !”. Under the tremendous pressure of the extraordinary sneeze, and the pulling of Wiggles, Fluffy popped out of the mailbox with a WHOOSH… He landed about four feet away with a resounding thump. Fluffy snorted out of his nose and in a frenzy state jumped up, looked around and then fell with exhaustion to the ground. As he breathed, ragged noisy rumbles came from his mouth. “Fluffy, are you all right”, cried Wiggles. His legs weren’t too steady either, so he too plopped down beside the puffing Fluffy. Fluffy just sat there with a mindlessly embarrassed look on his face. “I’m going to rest awhile” was all he said. He closed his eyes for a second, his head was still stuffed and spinning senselessly !
For a while the two friends just sat there on the ground and said nothing. The silence was only broken by a cough or sneeze every now and then from Fluffy. Finally Wiggles spoke, “Now, that is what I call an earth-shattering experience”. Then, Fluffy shaking his head whispered, “I’m so embarrassed, how will I ever face anyone again ?”. “Don’t be embarrassed”, Wiggles said quickly. “it could have happen to anyone. And besides, I’m not going to tell…” “Are you teasing me ?”, sputtered Fluffy. “I wouldn’t tease you about something like that.”, said Wiggles as he reached over and patted Fluffy on the head. This was most reassuring to Fluffy, the only thing he liked better than a pat on the head was to be scratched behind his ear. His tail was wagging furiously.
With that, Wiggles got up on his feet and said, “Think its time we went home.”. While he was helping Fluffy get up on his wobbly legs, he noticed that Fluffy was clutching something. “What’s that ?”, asked Wiggles pointing to a rumpled piece of paper. “That’s my mail”, replied Fluffy with a final sneeze. “It’s an advertisement for insurance”. With a grin Wiggles said, “You know old buddy, maybe you just might look into that”.
The two them started back toward home. Fluffy, began his complaining again and Wiggles limped along side, nodding his head in that agreeing gesture. Tomorrow just has to be a more peaceful day.
My tiny mind sees the moral of this tale as haste makes waste and sometimes gets you stuck where you don’t want to be…

Furwaggle Chapter 1

Chapter 1
A short imaginary walk.

Like all mythical stories this tale takes place far, far away before there was time, in a land call Furwaggle. This fictitious place had many wonderful magical features. One of them was that
everyone could talk and understand each other regardless of who or what they were. Cats could talk to dogs, fish could talk to mice and even grasshoppers could talk to toads. We now join two of the residents of this special land.
As usual Fluffy and Wiggles were on their morning walk about
this wonderful land. And just as usual Fluffy was doing what he does best, complaining. Wiggles had become accustomed to his almost constant moaning and groaning. He has been doing it all his life and today Fluffy was on his favorite subject, food. He always had something to say about it. It was either too cold. Or too hot. Or too something. This morning was topic “A”, too little. Wiggles had another reason for accepting Fluffy’s continued barrage of loud grumbling, he didn’t see very well. In fact, Wiggles couldn’t make out anything further than a few inches past his nose. He did have good hearing but seeing was a duck of another color. So he relied on Fluffy’s gripping to guide him along. If Fluffy knew this, he never let on to it. The two had been friends for a long time. They were born on the same day and just naturally took to each other. Early on they had made a pact. Fluffy wouldn’t bite and Wiggles wouldn’t fly. After that they were almost always together. When you seen one, you seen the other.
They took their normal route, out the barnyard, across the meadow, and up the little hill toward the tree line. Everthing was run-of-the-mill as usual. Fluffy was just getting wound up about food and Wiggles was nodding his head in that, I agree gesture, he used while walking. Suddenly fluffy stopped dead still. His mouth snaped shut and the grumbling quit. It took Wiggles a few steps before he realized that he could no longer hear fluffy. He could hear the wind in the trees, he could hear a grasshopper talking to a butterfly nearby but he didn’t hear Fluffy. He stopped too, so as to better hear his friend. He listened for that whining nasal sound to tell where or what was up with Fluffy. Nada, nothing at all from his furry friend. “OK, what’s it going to be ? Steak and Eggs ?” “Where are you ?” Fluffy had been standing so still that he had even been holding his breath. The mention of Steak and Eggs from Wiggles snapped him out of his trance. Even then all he could reply was a very soft whisper, “ We have a problem”. Now what, thought Wiggles. This wasn’t like the time Fluffy got his nose caught in a mousetrap. That was a very loud problem. Nor was it like the thorn in the foot problem. That was not only loud but a lot of whining problem. No, this was different. Anything that could shut up Fluffy, had to be a big, hide your head in the hay, kind of problem.
Wiggles said “I don’t hear anything”. “What do you want it to say, take me to your leader ?” Whispered Fluffy back. Oh my word, thought Wiggles, this boy’s been staying up too late at night watching TV. Time to put a stop to all this nonsense. “Just what is it you see ?”, snapped Wiggles. “Well… it’s small… its green… it has a little funny ear and it’s… smiling at me…”, that was all Fluffy could get out. What ever else Fluffy was trying to say was lost in a stuttering kind of low whimper. “You’re either describing a funny green rabbit or a happy turtle with ears” cracked Wiggles. “No, it’s not a rabbit, and I never saw a turtle stand on its back legs before”. “Besides it don’t have but one ear”. “Well, I don’t have any ears and I can hear you just fine.” replied Wiggles. “Get on with it boy, tell me just what it is”, Wiggles was getting tired of this game. He would have slapped Fluffy upside the head if he could find him, or hit that green little thing a time or two if he could see it. But all he had to go on was what little his friend could get out between breaths. Fluffy was either hyperventilating or had a fur ball that was cutting off the oxygen to his tiny brain. What ever was the case he wasn’t getting much help. Then Wiggles got an idea and said to Fluffy, “try growling at it !”. “Are you crazy, it might throw green smelly stuff all over me… us…”. Fluffy hoarsely replied. “So what we have here is your typical small green one eared skunk”. Wiggles said with a sarcastic grin. “ and where is this little bit of your imagination located ?” “Just because I haven’t ever seen it before don’t mean that I don’t see it now !” growled Fluffy. “It’s as real as you or me… and it’s about 10 steps behind you”. Now it was Wiggles turn to be surprised. “Are you pulling my tail feathers ?” “No, it’s really there, right behind you and it’s watching every move you make.
Without any more bantering, Wiggles spun around and started forward. With each step Wiggles would take, Fluffy would plead with his friend to stop this foolishness and tuck his tail and run. Wiggles would have none of it, he marched steadily forward,… 8 steps, 9 steps, 10 steps and then he stopped. “Ok, that’s ten, now where is your little green friend”, call Wiggles. “He’s right in front of you, you’re nose to nose, and he’s no friend of mine”, cried Fluffy. By now his fur was standing straight up. This was more from fright than anything else. Needless to say he wasn’t the braver of the two friends. Wiggles wasn’t really all that brave either. He just couldn’t seen anything to be afraid of. That’s mainly because he just couldn’t see anything. Wiggles now started to poke his head forward for a better look. Zap, Crackle, Pop… His head hit something. To say it was a shocking experience would be an understatement. It wasn’t just his head, his whole body shared in the adventure. His toes began to tingle, his body began to shake and a small puff of gray smoke rose from his tail feathers. The next thing that happened was truly amazing. Fluffy couldn’t believe his eyes. Wiggles was ejected about 10 feet into the air, not in a graceful flight but more like a rocket zooming from some launch pad. There were even some trailing sparks following his trajectory upward. At the peak of his climb he did a full double flip and started earthward. In the meantime Fluffy had started to run in a circle around his friend and the little green thing. When Wiggles started his flight, Fluffy began to increase the size of his running path. Ever wider grew his circle of travel. By the time Wiggles made his unceremonious landing, Fluffy was running a full 30-yard circle around the proceedings. He was also wailing at the top of his lungs. It sounded more like a siren than anything a mammal could make. Wiggles didn’t guide in for a three-point landing, it was more a straight splat into a muddy spot, type of an approach. His head hit first, that’s what saved him from any body damage. Fluffy, seeing his friend hit the ground, made a sharp turn and headed in his direction. By the time he got there, Wiggles had pulled his head out of the wet dirt and was spitting mud out of his mouth. “Wiggles, Wiggles, are you all right?”, cried Fluffy. “I would be, if you would stop all that yelling, I got a terrible headache”, moaned Wiggles.
Fluffy helped his friend to his feet and then looked around for the little green thing. What ever it was, it’s gone now and that made Fluffy feel much better. He had no urge to take one of those flights or get all shook up like he had just witnessed. Both of the friends agreed that this was enough excitement for one day, and started back toward home. Fluffy, began his complaining again and Wiggles limped along side, nodding his head in that agreeing gesture. Tomorrow has to be a more peaceful day.
My tiny mind thinks that you shouldn’t rub noses with little green men that you don’t know.
